The school of physical science and technology of Ningbo University traces back to Ningbo Normal University in 1958. From 1978 to 1986, the Department of physics of Ningbo normal college was merged with Ningbo University, Ningbo Normal University and Ningbo Branch of Zhejiang Fisheries University in 1996, then the Physics Department of Ningbo University in 2000, and then the physical science and Technology College of Ningbo University in 2018 After more than 60 years and generations of efforts, the college has developed into a physics department with a certain influence in China, covering physics, microelectronics, science education and other characteristic disciplines.

学院下设物理系和微电子科学与工程系,本科专业有物理学(基地班)、微电子科学与工程、科学教育等三个专业。微电子科学与工程入选浙江省新兴特色专业、宁波市一流专业,物理学入选宁波市重点专业。 现建有浙江省物理实验教学重点示范中心、宁波市纳米材料重点实验室,现有实验仪器总值3400余万元,其中大型仪器100万以上7台套、40万元21台套。
The college consists of physics department and microelectronics science and engineering department. The undergraduate majors are physics (base class), microelectronic science and engineering, and science education. Microelectronics Science and engineering was selected as the new characteristic specialty of Zhejiang Province, the first-class specialty of Ningbo City, and physics was selected as the key specialty of Ningbo City. Zhejiang provincial key demonstration center of physics experiment teaching and Ningbo Key Laboratory of nano materials have been built. The total value of existing experimental instruments is more than 34 million yuan, including 7 sets of large-scale instruments over 1 million yuan and 21 sets of 400 thousand yuan.
学院师资力量雄厚,师资队伍以中青年骨干教师为主体,人员年龄、职称和知识结构合理。现有专任教师61人,其中正高23人,副高21人;其中具有博士学位者57人,国家高层次人才特殊支持计划1人,国家杰出青年基金获得者1人,国家有突出贡献中青年专家1人,教育部新世纪优秀人才支持计划1人,省市特聘教授3人,浙江省151人才工程第一层次培养人才2人。有宁波市非线性科学创新团队、宁波市非线性海洋与大气灾害系统协同创新中心、并参与省部共建宁波市新型功能材料及其制备科学国家重点实验室培育基地、浙江省首批创新团队纳米材料团队。

近10年以来,学院共承担国家自然科学基金重点项目3项,国际合作重点项目1项,国家自然科学基金项目80余项,浙江省自然科学基金等省部级项目40余项,纵向科研经费合计超过1亿元,获得教育部高等学校科学技术奖自然科学一等奖1项,浙江省科学技术一等奖1项、二等奖2项、三等奖1项,浙江省高校科研成果一等奖2项,在Phys. Rev. Lett.、Nat. Commun、Adv. Funct. Mater.、Phys. Rev. A/B/C/D、Appl. Phys. Lett.等期刊上发布SCI论文1000余篇,授权发明专利100余项。
